Giovanna is a Photographer and producer based in queens, New York and working everywhere.
I have always loved looking back at photographs. When I was a child, there was an analog Nikon camera in my house. By today’s standards, it would probably be considered a “dinosaur” of a camera. I remember the first time I held it - I liked the feeling. I was drawn to its weight and to the sense of mystery in that machine that seemed so complex.
I moved from Brazil to the United States when I was between 15 and 16 years old. It wasn’t the easiest time to fit in. I arrived halfway through my junior year of high school and, honestly, I didn’t understand how the American school system worked, nor did I speak English very well. After some time, I asked for a camera as a gift, and fortunately, I received one. From then on, as soon as the school bell rang, I would grab my camera, walk to the train station, and make my way to New York City. There, I explored by myself the vast world within the “Big Apple”, wandering in search of moments to frame.
After years of playing with photography as a hobby, I embraced it as my passion, and since then, I’ve been continuously unfolding within it. Today, I work professionally as a photographer and storyteller. My work has been published as cover and in the pages for Go Outside print magazine; I have documented private and corporate events, contributed to editorials, and portrayed places and people across Brazil, the United States, and Europe. In 2025, I produced my first documentary, “A Note Towards Tomorrow”.
With a strong desire to continue exploring and refining my craft, more than ever I see myself exactly where I am meant to be: telling stories and sharing experiences through my lens.
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about my story and for exploring my work.
